【摘要】:Degradationinsensorperformancecanoccurduetodropping,mechanicalshockwhilemountedontheteststructure,temperaturecycles,andsoforth.Itisnecessaryanddesirabletohaveasimplemeasurementprocedurethatwillchecktheconsistencyofsensorresponse,whileholdingallothervariablesconstant.Whiletestblocksofmanydifferentkindshavebeenusedforthispurposeformanyyears,anacrylicpolymerrodoffersthebestall-aroundcombinationofsuitableacousticproperties,practicalconvenience,easeofprocurementandlowcost.Becausetheacousticpropertiesoftheacrylicrodareknowntodependontemperature,thispracticerequiresthattherod,sensors,andcouplantbestabilizedatthesameworkingtemperature,priortoverifyingthesensors.Attentionshouldbepaidtostorageconditionsfortheacrylicpolymerrod.Forexample,itshouldnotbeleftinafreezingorhotenvironmentovernight,unlessitisgiventimefortemperaturestabilizationbeforeuse.Properlyappliedandwithproperrecordkeeping,thispracticecanbeusedinmanyways.Theuserorganizationmustdeterminethecontextforitsuse,theacceptancestandardsandtheactionstobetakenbasedontheleadbreakresults.Thefollowingusesaresuggested:Todeterminewhenasensorisnolongersuitableforuse.Tochecksensorsthathavebeenexposedtohigh-riskconditions,suchasdropping,overheating,andsoforth.Togetanearlywarningofsensordegradationovertime.Thiscanleadtoidentifyingconditionsofuse,whicharedamagingsensors,andthus,tobetterequipmentcareandlowerreplacementcosts.Toobtainmatchedsetsofsensors,preamplifiers,instrumentationchannels,oracombinationthereof,formoreuniformperformanceofthetotalsystem.Tosavetimeandmoney,byeliminatingtheinstallationofbadsensors.Toverifysensorsquicklybutconsistentlyinthefieldandtoassisttrouble-shootingwhenachanneldoesnotpassaperformancecheck.Alltheaboveusesarerecommendedforconsideration.Thepurposeofthispracticeisnottocallouthowtheseusesaretobeimplemented,butonlytostatehowthetestitselfistobeperformedsothattheresultsobtainedwillbeaccurateandreliable.1.1Thispracticeisusedforroutinelycheckingthesensitivityofacousticemission(AE)sensors.Itisintendedtoprovideareliable,preciselyspecifiedwayofcomparingasetofsensors,ortellingwhetheranindividualsensor''ssensitivityhasdegradedduringitsservicelife,orboth.1.2Thispracticeisnotax201C;calibrationx201D;nordoesitgivefrequencyresponseinformation.1.3Units8212;ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
